Article Title: Research Progress at the Aaron Oil Company, Inc. Saraland, Alabama Processing Facility:
The International Used Oil Research Institute started working with the Engineers at the Aaron Oil Processing Facility in Saraland, Alabama a few years ago. The objective of the project was to computerize all of the processes within the facility, build a database of all plant processing data that is gathered through automation for reporting and to eliminate plant paperwork thereby saving time for Plant Staff and Process Technicians.
The last major Process automation project was completed the last week of June 2009. The company’s vision is to complete its total automation, which will allow the company to be the first total automated Used Oil and Petroleum Reclamation operation in the nation and possibly the world.
From the dispatch, to the trucks with their GPS and handheld computers which automates the billing process, to the scheduling with the plant, to processing and scheduling of the company’s finished products. This is just another successful effort that has raised the operational standards for oil recyclers around the world.
Aaron Oil Company was the first Petroleum Reclamation organization to become CERTIFIED under ISO 14001 and ISO 18001. The company is the only oil recycler in the world that is currently CERTIFIED under both ISO 14001 and 18001. Operating by these stringent international standards and becoming the first fully automated Used Oil and Petroleum Reclamation Company in the industry will set a new standard for the industry.
The research will continue through 2010 and when completed, will provide the industry with critical data that can be used to show how through automation and the high standards of ISO Certified Managed operations, companies around the world can improve operating efficiencies, environmental, health and safety performance.

On Earth Day, NORA Announces Oil Recycling Day
In conjunction with EARTH DAY 2009, NORA announces a new date to further promote responsible recycling and the proper use, reuse, and recycling of used oil.
On September 30th, NORA invites you to participate in Oil Recycling Day, a national program educating Americans on the continuous life cycle of oil. Nora, an association of top liquid recycling companies, will organize the efforts to encourage Americans to bring their used oil to responsible recyclers rather than pollute the environment.
"Used motor oil has the unique property of being able to be completely recycled back to its original state to be reused over and over or converted to a valuable fuel," explained Scott D Parker, NORA Executive Director, "Currently, only fifty percent of the motor oil sold annually in the U.S. is being recycled. There is no reason why we can't reach 100%."
Motor oil is a renewable resource and can be recycled through reuse, reconditioning, and re-refining. Industrial burners can reuse spent motor oil for energy recovery, with no additional cost to recycling. Reconditioned, or cleaned, oil can also be used in commercial applications. Used motor oil that is re-refined is fractioned back into it's original, new state, and can be used the same as virgin product, saving the destruction of the environment to drill for new sources of oil. All of these recycling efforts stop oil from being improperly disposed of in landfills, down drains and waterways, and in the soil.
NORA will organize Oil Recycling Day on September 30th and plans to launch a national campaign with a website, community collection day program, school lesson plans, promotional posters, and more.
NORA is a national trade association whose members are an elite group of 250 companies in the liquid recycling industry that have been promoting and defending the industry for the last 25 years. Members rely on NORA to provide a competitive edge in the marketplace with critical news, industry advocacy, vital business resources, member promotion, and networking and educational events. NORA members are committed to maintaining a sound environmental policy, a high standard of integrity, continual improvement, and the implementation of the key business principles.
